Belagavi: Former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai made serious allegations against the Congress party, accusing them of engaging in corrupt practices and mismanaging the state government. Bommai claimed that the Congress, which had previously accused the BJP government of corruption, was now involved in fixing commission percentages from contractors.
Addressing gathering at a meeting of district-level BJP workers on Sunday, Bommai criticized the Congress for accusing the central government of not providing rice for Anna Bhagya and blaming Prime Minister Modi. He stated that Congress had no moral ground to protest, as they themselves were protesting while remaining in the government.
He further alleged a conspiracy in the procurement of rice, claiming to possess insider knowledge about the matter and promising that the truth would be revealed.
Bommai said that the Shakti Yojana, the scheme providing free bus travel to women, will have a detrimental effect on the financial health of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC). He warned that buses would cease operation due to the financial crunch created by the scheme.
Bommai criticized the condition put forth by Gruha Lakshmi, questioning why guarantees were subject to such conditions. He also accused the government of failing to address the issue of water scarcity in reservoirs despite the lack of rain.
Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, MLA from Vijayapura, echoed Bommai’s concerns and alleged that anarchy had started in Karnataka due to the state government’s inability to provide security and maintain law and order.
