Congress govt is ‘fooling’ people by ‘unauthorized load shedding’: MLA Vedavyas Kamath

Mangaluru: Congress government in the state is now deceiving people by providing free electricity on the one hand and unauthorized load shedding on the other, alleged Vedavyas Kamath, the MLA of Mangalore South Constituency.

For the last week, electricity has been cut off at night, causing serious problems for the consumers. Students are facing problems with their nighttime studies, housewives are not able to cook during night hours. Businesses, especially small ones, are suffering due to the unannounced load shedding, he said and added that while on the one hand, the government is saying that “we have given free electricity”, on the other hand, it is “fooling” the consumers by cutting the electricity.

He further said that there is information that the state government itself has instructed the Escoms to carry out load shedding unofficially, which is putting a huge burden on the government in order to provide free guarantees.

He alleged that the government, which has increased the prices in order to give freebies, has now resorted to cost reduction through the back door method, thereby misusing the entire system and deceiving the common people.

“Generally temporary load shedding is done when there is a shortage of water in the reservoirs or when there is variation in coal supply for power generation. It is common practice to do a phased load shedding during summer when the electricity consumption spikes,” MLA Kamath said and added that the state government seems to not care for the people by issuing instructions for unauthorized load shedding during the rainy season.
