Bengaluru: Around 1.82 lakh women beneficiaries of Karnataka’s ambitious Gruha Lakshmi scheme have not received any funds due to technical issues. To resolve this, Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh has directed banks to merge beneficiary data on a campaign basis.

Since its implementation, the Gruha Lakshmi scheme has completed one year, and the state government has credited Rs 26,260 crore into beneficiary accounts. However, despite providing the required documents, many women are still missing out on benefits due to technical glitches.

Why the Delay?

At a recent state-level bankers’ committee meeting, several issues were highlighted, including failure in e-KYC, Aadhaar not being linked to bank accounts, and problems with NPCI (BHIM App) mapping. As a result, Rs 36.40 crore remains undisbursed to 1.82 lakh women across Karnataka.

Banks Urged to Cooperate

Banks have requested the SLBC to provide every small detail about the excluded beneficiaries, including name, initials, address, Aadhaar number, voter ID, and passbook details, to ensure proper fund distribution. Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh has urged banks to take this seriously and facilitate the payment process on a campaign basis.

Funds for July, August Still Pending

Despite assurances by Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar that all beneficiaries received payments until June, the July and August installments are yet to be credited. As September draws to a close, three months’ worth of funds remain in limbo due to technical issues, depriving women of their Rs 2,000 monthly support.

Deadline for Reels Submission

The government had also encouraged beneficiaries to create and share reels on platforms like YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram, showcasing the positive impact of the scheme on their lives. Today, September 30, is the last day to submit these reels, with prizes for the top 50 entries with the highest viewership.
