Congress leader Mithun Rai questions silence on Parashurama’s statue controversy

Congress leader Mithun Rai raised concerns over the silence of those advocating Hindutva in response to the controversial statue of Parashurama in Karkala. The statue, claimed to be made of bronze but reportedly constructed from fiber, has stirred controversy in Tulunadu.
Rai questioned why supporters of Hindutva had not spoken out against the alleged misinformation surrounding the statue. He stressed the significant role that Lord Parashurama holds in Tulunadu mythology.
Rai referred to a letter from the revenue secretary in the previous BJP government, dated March 15, 2023, which indicated that the 1.58-acre land allocated for the Parashurama theme park was Gomala land at survey number 329/1. Despite this information, the BJP government had rejected the proposal, and Rai emphasized that there is ample evidence supporting the claim that this land is indeed Gomala land.
The Congress leader questioned the urgency with which MLA Sunil Kumar had installed the Parashurama statue and speculated whether it was motivated by genuine religious devotion or the fear of upcoming elections.
He accused the BJP of exploiting religion for political gain and criticized the officials for raising concerns with MLA Sunil Kumar. Rai also expressed his disappointment with Hindu activists for not addressing the issue and misleading the public regarding the statue’s material. He vowed to take the matter to Matadishas to seek justice against such injustices.
