Bengaluru: Humiliated Congress was compelled to throw out MLA NA Harris’s son Mohammad Nalapad on Sunday following a brutal assault by him and his companions on a youth in a posh Bengaluru restaurant.
Nalapad, the Bangalore District Youth Congress General Secretary, is expelled from the party for six years soon after he and 10 of his associates assaulted a youth on Saturday night. This incident is a perfect example for misuse of power.
The victim in this incident is Vidwath, a eresident of Dollars colony in Bengaluru. Vidwath was having dinner at a posh restaurant in UB city on Saturday night when Nalapad and his companions also arrived at the restaurant. They allegedly asked Vidwath, who had a fracture plastered on his right leg to sit properly. This offended Vidwath and a heated arguement was exchanged between them. Raged by this, Nalapad and his friends started assaulting Vidwath and beat him up mercilessly.
Vidwath was immediately rushed to the hospital. He was under treatment at Mallya Hospital but the group followed him there and allegedly started beating him up at the hospital too. They also attacked Vidwath’s brother who came to stop them. Nalapad’s father reportedly paid visit to the hospital that night.
This incident has come as a major humiliation to the Congress government in the state as the election polls are arriving soon.
On Sunday, when Harris was enquired about his son’s whereabouts, he said “It is a regrettable incident. I met the victim and his family at the hospital. I don’t know where he (Nalapad) is. His phone is switched off. Let the law take its action against him,”
The police have registered a case agaiant Nalapad and his companions.
The incident has reached every leader in the state. Speaking to the reporters, CM Siddaramaiah said that the government will support the law. He also said that he has analysed the report and has ordered the strictest punishment to Harris’s son. Such crimes cannot be tolerated and the police will arrest him. Law is equal to all, he added.
Chief Minister also tweeted that the offenders will be punished “regardless of who they are”
Offenders should be punished to the full extent of law regardless of who they are. No less, no more.@CPBlr will take action as per law and bring the guilty to book. https://t.co/H0Km8zauVz
