Congress releases ’10-point’ charter for Karavali region for K’taka Assembly polls

Mangaluru: Congress on Sunday released a separate manifesto for the Karavali region for the upcoming Karnataka Assembly polls.
The 10-points charter or ‘Dasa Sankalpa’ for the Karavali region spells out 10 priorities and promises for the coastal region, if Congress is elected to power.
The charter mentions that development of the ‘coastal region’ will be Congress’ first priority with focus on creating employment, investment, tourism, and harmonious growth. To achieve this, constitute a statutory body titled “Karawali Development Authority” with an annual budget of ₹ 2,500 Cr.
Congress promises to make Manglaluru the next IT and Garment Industry hub of India, with a view to creating 1 Lakh Jobs in Coastal Region.
It also promises to restore and increase the budget for Minority Welfare, including starting Pre-Matric Scholarship for Minorities.
Apart from the earlier announcements of providing 200 Units of Electricity Free every month to every household of Karnataka and the Rs 2,000 per month in the bank account of every Women Head of the family for fighting inflation, the charter mentions special incentives for Mogaveeras including insurance cover of 10 Lakh for every fisherman, interest-free loans of Rs 1 Lakh to fisherwomen, subsidy upto Rs 25 Lakh (equivalent to 25% of Cost) for buying well-equipped fishing boats and increase the subsidy on Diesel from Rs 10.71 per litre to Rs 25 per litre and increase quantity from 300 litres to 500 litres per day.
To woo the Bunt and Billava communities of the region, the Congress manifesto promises the constitution of ‘Shree Narayana Guru Development Board’ and a “Bant Development Board” with an annual outlay of ₹250 Crore every year to each of them.
Restoration and increase the budget for Minority Welfare, including starting Pre-Matric Scholarship for Minorities that has been stopped by Modi Govt.
it also talks about setting up of “Shree Swami Vivekananda Communal and Social Harmony Committee” in every Gram Panchayat with appropriate grants and plans.
Further, it is promised to allocate 250 Cr to solve the problems of Areca Nut Grower’s affected by Yellow leaf and such other dieses and improve marketing and research in this regard.
