Hubballi: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, on Friday, accused the Congress of still being “intoxicated” by the power it enjoyed in the past and using “low-level language” to attack its opponents.

Criticising Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge likening Prime Minister Narendra Modi to a “poisonous snake”, Bommai alleged that Congress leaders were still intoxicated by the power they enjoyed in the past. They saw people as slaves and now they are using lowly words in the same spirit.

It does not behove for leaders like Mallikarjuna Kharge and Siddaramaiah, who have been in public life for nearly 50 years, to use such poor language, he said.

Bommai further asserted that  PM Modi’s popularity has increased every time he was criticized in such lowly terms. “People will teach Congress a lesson this time too,” he added.

Bommai responded to the personal criticism made by Siddaramaiah, alleging that the Congress leader was making such remarks out of frustration of losing the vote bank. The schemes implemented for the Scheduled Castes, Tribes, and Backward Classes have made the voters to favour BJP over the Congress, Bommai claimed and added that the fear of a potential defeat in Varuna is haunting Siddaramaiah and for that, he is making statements out of desperation.
