Congress to field JD(S) rebels

Bengaluru/ New Delhi: Fielding the JD(S) rebels and getting rid of controversial officials and a section of the old guard seemed to be stumbling blocks for the Congress as it endeavored to finalise candidates for the May 12 Karnataka Assembly polls. 

Regardless of marathon meetings on Saturday, party leaders neglected to achieve an agreement. 

The leaders had settled candidates for just about 190 Assembly seats and decisions for the rest of the nominees continued late into Saturday night at an undisclosed area in the national capital. 

The list of candidates should have been released on Saturday yet contrasts among senior leaders additionally deferred the procedure. The recording of selections for the elections starts on Tuesday. 

The Congress high command asked Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and senior leaders to concede their battle programs and finalise the list of candidates at the earliest by remaining back in Delhi. 

After the party’s top brass neglected to settle possibility for few constituencies on Friday, the screening committee headed by Madhusudhan Mistry met on Saturday for almost three hours with party leaders, including Siddaramaiah, Parmeshwara and K C Venugopal.
