Conman arrested for posing as TV reporter, extorting money

Beltangady: A conman posing as a reporter of TV news channel to extort money from people was arrested by the Neria police on Wednesday, September 26.
The arrested, Satish used to target illegal sand transporters and used to extort Rs 15,000-30,000 from them by threatening to expose their misdeeds. He claimed to be working for BTV, TV 9 and some other news channels thus managing to unnerve his victims to pay up the demanded sum.
However, his dream run came to an end on Wednesday when the police caught him red-handed in the act.
He is currently in the custody of Dharmasthala police.
