Consider me your daughter, your servant: Kusuma

Bengaluru: “I am not a leader, I am just like your daughter. Your servant. I am standing for election and I hope you will not abandon me. Please allow me to be of service to you,” said Kusuma Hanumanthappa, the Congress candidate for Rajarajeshwari Nagar assembly constituency by-election.

She along with KPCC president DK Shivakumar and other Congress leaders attended back to back campaign events on Saturday, October 24 at Peenya and various parts of the constituency.

“You elected Muniratna twice. But he defected to the BJP. Did he ask you before joining BJP? Sonia Gandhi has given the ticket to your Kusuma. We will take care of all your problems,” she said.

Do not be afraid of anything. Whoever that Naidu is who said he will file a lawsuit. We know which officer does what. You need not worry about anything or anybody. We will stand for your protection.

DK Shivakumar said that most of the loyal BJP workers are not participating in campaigning for Muniratna. Adding that such people (Muniratna) will bring down any party they are in.

“BJP has given him only one chance to win if he fails he will not have any next chance. Therefore, do not worry so much about them. Get rid of them soon. The constituency needs ‘mukti’ from BJP and JD(S) and the only way for that is Kusuma. Her victory will also privately cheer many police personnel,” he said.

Shivkumar also replied to Muniratna’s accusation that they are breaking caste unity by saying: “Poor Muniratna, he is experiencing tremendous tension. He is thinking: ‘why did I do all of this?’ He was made to sit at home for a year and now even his own party workers including any of the top BJP State leaders, ministers or Chief Minister Yediyurappa are not campaigning for him.”
