Construction of Central prison in Mudipu will be completed within two years: DGP Prison

Director-General of Police (Prisons), Alok Kumar on Tuesday said that Mangalore District jail will be upgraded and will be transformed into a more secure prison.

Speaking to the reporters here, Alok Kumar said,” The construction work of new Central prison in Mudipu is going on full swing and will be completed within two years. It will be an all-inclusive facility with provision to hold 1,000 under trials and convicts”

He further said, ” Due to Covid-19, prisoners are not allowed to meet their family members face-to-face but they can reach out to them via E-Mulakat”

“Also, as we have taken strict measures against the use of Mobile phones and Marijuana in the jail,  the number of complaints has also reduced,” he added
