Udupi: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) national leader Manjunath Swamy has courted controversy through his anti-Muslim statement here at VHP Ram Mandir Janagraha Rally on Sunday, December 2.
Swami spoke to the gathering and said, “Janagraha rally is being organised across the nation demanding Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Hundreds of seers including Pejawar Swamiji are demanding it. A mosque is not the only place for Muslims to pray. Islam is not a religion. Quran is a manifesto of Islam. Muslims need not compulsorily go to a mosque. They pray in bus stands and even in toilets. Why do they need a mosque in Ayodhya,” he questioned.
“Allahabad court has asked proof whether there was a temple in Ayodhya. Even the Supreme Court asked the same. Do we need such courts? It is a shame. Allahabad court verdict is wrong. Temple should be built in Ayodhya. The court has neglected the issue for long. If the court gives verdict in favour of building a mosque, we will not accept it. If the court is not with us, where should we go? Ram Mandir should become the ‘Rashtra Mandir’. The court is neglecting the feelings of crores of Hindus. We need Ram Mandir at any cost,” he remarked.
His statements come in the presence of MP Shobha Karandlaje, MLA Raghupati Bhat, Palimar seer and other Pro-Hindutva leaders.
