Bengaluru: A police was given a special present after he chased down a thief and brought him to justice regardless of getting injured.

Hanumanth, a policeman appended to the Bellandur police station here, was posted near Big Bazaar on Sarjapur Road on night duty when he heard calls for help.

He quickly rushed without hesitation and before long discovered that thieves had ran off with somebody’s mobile phone on their bicycles. The policeman chased the thieves alone in a bike for around four kilometers when he finally caught up to them.

He managed to catch one of the thief, Arun Kumar (20) and got injured in the process. He did not let go of the thief and made sure he was arrested.

Arun is presently in police custody. Impressed by Hanumanth’s courage and assurance, the police division gave him a money reward of Rs 10,000 and a honeymoon package to Kerala worth Rs 25,000.

Hanumanth was married back in November 2017 but, infer-able from his obligations and duties, he was not able give time for his honeymoon.

An authority from the office said that they needed to empower such shows of bravery in the office which is so rare nowadays.
