Cops assaulted with sickle, rod at Moojinadu

Belthangady: Two policemen sustained injuries after a woman and her mother assaulted them with a sickle and rod at Moojinadu in Belthangady on Thursday.
Reportedly, a team of police personnel affiliated to Dharmasthala police station had gone to the woman (Pramilla)’s residence to arrest her and three others in connection with an attempt to murder case of her neighbour Savitha Gore.
Gore, a mentally-challenged woman had been beaten up by her teenage son Abhishek Gore and neighbours – Pramila and Jagadeesh. She is currently undergoing treatment at the government hospital in Belthangady.
Pramilla and her mother Leelavathi were angered to see the police arrive at their house and threatened them of dire consequences. Later, they are said to have assaulted the team with a sickle and rod injuring two policemen in the process. One of the personnel, injured in the assault continues to remain hospitalised while the other has been discharged, said a police officer.
According to the officer, Pramilla and her family wanted the position of the three-acre land belonging to Gore. They, thus, laid a plot and even convinced Abhishek too join hands with them.
Meanwhile, the poilce have arrested all the four accused in the case.
