Bengaluru: Chamarajanagar police personnel ensured that a mentally challenged man got a decent burial after his family members refused to claim his body fearing they’ll catch coronavirus.
The 44-year-old man was trampled to death by a wild animal four days ago in the border district of Chamarajanagar district near Mysuru.
The officials conducted the postmortem and asked to family to take the body. They however refused to do so.
Following this, three police personnel, including Assistant Sub Inspector Madegowda decided to perform his last rites. The trio dug a grave at a Hindu cemetery in Chamarajanagar and gave him a decent burial as per the customs. An earthmover filled the grave with soil.
