Corpse recovered from Gurpur River: Murder suspected

Mangaluru: A corpse of an unknown person was found floating in Gurpura river near Tippunagar ground on Friday, June 7. It is suspected the person must have been murdered before his corpse was dumped in the river.

The corpse found is currently in the state of putrefaction. According to police source, the body must have been dumped into the river a couple of days ago.

Prima Facie inspection of the corpse has revealed stab injury on the abdomen area of the corpse. Besides, the hands and throat of the deceased was found to be tied with cloth.

The age of the deceased is assumed to be between 35-40 years; however the identity of the victim is yet to be ascertained. A case in this connection has been registered.
