Council by-polls: Congress fields Raju Poojary as its candidate

In the upcoming Legislative Council by-election, the Congress party has announced Raju Poojary as their official candidate.

“The Congress President Shri Mallikarjun Kharge has approved the candidature of Shri Raju Poojary as party candidate for the ensuing bye-election to the Karnataka Legislative Council from Dakshina Kannada Local Authorities’ Constituency,” read AICC press release.

His nomination comes as part of the party’s strategy to secure a strong position in the Legislative Council.

October 3 is the last date to file nominations for the byelections. Polling would be conducted on October 21 while the counting of votes would be held on October 24.
