Incident synopsis
In their latest debacle, the couple visited the house of Abu Muhammed Saheb living near the mosque on Ferry Road ward here on Friday afternoon, told the lone lady there that they were relatives of her daughter-in-law, and had come to deliver invitation card. Incidentally, the men in the house were away at the mosque to offer Friday namaz prayers and Abu’s wife Mehar Banu, was alone at home.
Noticing that there was no one at home, the visitors tried to snatch away the golden chain in the neck of the woman. However, when Mehar shouted for help, passersby heard her, came in and held the two offenders. The intruders failed to answer to the queries put forth before them by the gathered people who then resorted to trashing the couple post which, the couple spilled the beans that they were accused in a murder case. Later they were handed over to the police.
District superintendent of police, Nisha James and assistant superintendent of police Hariram Shankar, visited the house in question and collected details, while the town police have registered a case in this connection.
