Udupi: The charred mortal remains of a man and woman were found charred inside a car near Pushpagiri Hills of Halebeedu in Hassan around 11 pm on Friday. Though the bodies are charred beyond recognition, the deceaased have been identified as Girish (35) a bakery owner in Karkala and Sandya (28), who worked at a goldsmith shop in Karkala.
Police officials informed that the investigation is under progress and the details could not be revealed. It was definite if the incident was a murder or a suicide, but sources within the police department suspect it to be a murder.
According to sources, Girish , a resident of Samudravalli near Arehally of Belur taluk, and Sandya were allegedly involved in an affair. Girish, though married was not in good terms with his wife. He came in contact with Sandhya at his bakery in Karkala. Their affair was not a secret and Sandhya’s family had warned Girish to stay away.
The suspicion is that Girish and Sandhya might have come to Pushpagiri Hills to marry, but there is no confirmation of their marriage. Sources suspect that either Girish or Sandhya’s family might have been involved in the murder over their illicit affair. Halebeedu police have registered a case and the investigation is in progress.
