Couple killed in bike-car collision at Bajagoli

Karkala: In a tragic incident a couple were killed after their two-wheeler collided against a Maruthi Omni car here at Bajagoli in Karkala on Monday night.

The deceased have been identified as Shankara Acharya (48) and his wife Manjula (40) hailing from Balehonnur in Chikkamagaluru district.

The couple were travelling towards Jayapura, Balehonnur from Manjarpakle on their two-wheeler via Bajagoli National Highway. The accident took place when their vehicle collided against a Karkala-bound Omni car at Pakkibettu in Mudaru village. Acharya and Manjula were immediately rushed to a hospital where doctors declared them brought dead. The driver of the Omni car and a boy travelling in the car sustained minor injuries in the mishap.

The couple is survived by a son and a daughter. Their last rites were performed at Gubbibailu in Balehonnur taluk on Tuesday night.

Karkala rural police registered a case.
