Patna: To promote the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a couple in Bihar took an eighth vow “Swachhta phera” while tying the nuptial knot here.
Instead of the typical wedding ceremony where the bride and the groom take seven vows called the Saat phere (seven circumambulations) which is one of the most important rituals in a Hindu wedding. The couple decided to take eight rounds around the pious fire, instead of seven, to promote cleanliness and support the drive.
