Couple who committed suicide fearing Covid-19 tested negative, reveals autopsy

Mangaluru: A couple who committed suicide fearing COVID-19 and Black Fungus infection have tested negative for Covid-19, as per the post-mortem report.

The deceased identified as Ramesh Suvarna and Gunavati Suvarna had left a death note and Rs 1 lakh behind for cremation. The incident occurred at Kulai Chitrapur here.

Before the act, husband Ramesh Suvarna had called Mangaluru Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar and informed him.

Shashikumar immediately a police team to the spot, but the couple had hanged themselves before they reached the house.
