COVID-19: 3 Qatar returnees in DK, 3 Maha returnees in Udupi test positive; state toll rises to 2282

Bengaluru: The Karnataka state on Tuesday, May 26 reported 100 news cases including three each from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, with this the total number of cases in the state rose to 2282.

The three who were tested positive in Dakshina Kannada are men aged 30, 37, and 30. They had recently returned to Bengaluru from Qatar and were placed under quarantine in Bengaluru.

They are currently undergoing treatment at designated COVID-19 hospital in Bengaluru.

The three who were tested positive in Udupi are a female aged 30, a male aged 27, and a child below ten years of age, all Maharashtra returnees.

Out of the 100 new cases, 46 are returnees from neighboring Maharashtra, 21 from Tamil Nadu, 13 from Jharkhand, and one from Gujarat, while four are with international travel history from Qatar.

The remaining cases include 10 who are contacts of patients already tested positive, two with a history of influenza-like illness (ILI), and one with history of SARI.

Two patients” contact history is still being traced.

Among the districts where the new cases were reported, Chitradurga accounts for 20, followed by Yadgir 14; 13 each from Belagavi and Hassan, Davangere 11, Bidar 10, Vijayapura five, three each from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, two each from Bengaluru urban and Kolar, and one each from Bagalkote, Chikkaballapura, Koppal, and Ballari.
