Notably inter-state traveller especially those from Maharashtra accounted for the spike in coronavirus cases in Karnataka.

The influx of people from Maharashtra to Mandya has turned it into a hotspot. In Chikkaballarpur 45 new cases were reported today and all of these cases pertained to those returning from Maharashtra.

Earlier in the day, Chief minister Yediyurappa held a video conference with district officials of Mandya and Chikkaballarpur district. It is gathered that they urged the CM not to allow permission for those coming from Maharashtra.

In this backdrop, Yediyurappa urged travellers from Maharashtra not to enter Karnataka.
