Covid 19: DK reports 238 new cases, Udupi 109 cases

Mangaluru/Udupi: Dakshina Kannada on Thursday, July 16 reported 238 coronavirus positive cases while neighbouring Udupi district reported 109 cases.

Out of 2,763 positive cases reported in Dakshina Kannada, so far 1,163 patients have been discharged while 1537 cases are active.

The new cases included 106 ILI cases, 17 SARI cases, 23 primary contacts of those infected earlier, 19 international travelers. Source of infection for 73 persons is being traced. Meanwhile six more fatalities were reported in Dakshina Kannada today taking the death toll to 63.

In Udupi, the tally of confirmed positive coronavirus cases increased to 1895 with today’s new cases. Of these, 1462 have been discharged from the hospital. Presently, 428 cases are active and five deaths have occurred.

Out of the 23,645 samples collected in the district so far, 21,156 people are found to be negative. Test results of 594 samples is awaited.
