Mangaluru: The Gowda Saraswat Brahmins (GSB) Temples’ Association of Mangaluru has appealed all the temples of their samaj to support the economically backward people of their community.
Gowda Saraswat Brahmins (GSB) Temples’ Association in a letter to the trustees of all the GSB Samaj temples said, “The havoc created by this pandemic in the form of Coronavirus is one that was never seen before. The situation as we all know is very critical and many have been affected adversely by this. The world is fighting a battle of its own and each country is safeguarding itself for its survival. These are tough and testing times, but we as a Nation have thus far been very steady and sensible in combating with this COVID19. The lockdown as precisely informed by our Hon’ble PM was the need of the hour & we are presently in a state of Stay at Home and Stay Safe.”
The letter further stated, “The lockdown has been very positively responded by all, but there has been an undeniable setback. The severely hit by this are the ones who believed in living one day at a time, the laborers, the wage workers, economically backward class, etc., for whom the source of income has drained as the entire system has come to a standstill. They are finding it extremely difficult to manage in this phase, as they are unable to procure essentials & minimum necessities at this moment.”
“It is in time of need; brotherhood and humanity are at the display. We as a Samaj have a responsibility on ourselves to uplift & handhold our brothers and sisters of the GSB community at least. We need to arrange for the resource for their living until the situation gets back to normalcy. GSB Temples’ Association and its affiliated Temples/Trusts/ Institutions have always lent its support whenever a need arose & today once again time has come for us to lead from the front. We request each of the Temple/Trust to shortlist names of the extremely deserving & needy that come under their jurisdiction and arrange for a KIT, which comprises of basic essentials like groceries, household items, etc. important for routine life and handover the same to those shortlisted by making appropriate arrangements towards distribution. There is no better service than service to mankind & we as representatives of the Temple/Trust have an opportunity to contribute in a small way in our resolve to fight against this Coronavirus,” the letter read.
“Let us all come together, stand shoulder to shoulder and support whoever genuinely requires assistance. Let us all stay at home & stay safe, thereby contributing to our individual capacity, by ensuring we limit our movement and maintain social distancing,” the letter added.
