Covid-19: K’taka govt launches Critical care support units to monitor patients in ICUs

In order to prevent the Covid-19 deaths in the state, Karnataka government has launched country’s first Critical care support unit to monitor patients admitted in Intensive Care Units.

The Critical Care Support Unit will review the progress and implementation of the action plan and share it with higher authorities for further action and will also help doctors from other districts who may not have access to new technology.

Minister for Medical education K Sudhakar said, “Karnataka is the first state in the country to establish Critical Care Support. The objective of the unit is to monitor COVID-19 patients in ICUs so that the doctors and health professionals are prepared to for the potential attack of the  virus, and thereby to achieve zero Covid-19 mortality in Karnataka. “

The officials said that the Critical Care Support Unit will be monitored by a team of doctors from the Health and Family Welfare Department, medical colleges and Interns from KIMS, MS Ramaiah Hospital and Dr BR Ambedkar Medical College.

At present, Covid-19 death in Karnataka is 11 and four are being treated in Intensive Care Units.
