COVID-19 lockdown: Community feeders go extra mile to feed stray animals

Mangaluru: As the 21-days lockdown has forced citizens inside their houses, many stray animals are struggling with hunger with nobody to feed them. In an act of humanity, community feeders are mass feeding stray animals in different parts of the city.

In a Facebook post, the Animal Care Trust shared the details of the initiative said, “Mass feeding of community animals by our volunteers in various parts of the city. Overjoyed to see the compassion, passion with which our volunteers, the general public are taking on the feeding of our community animals. Over 1000 animals dogs and cats, birds being fed in a day. Due to lockdown, there is absolutely no source of food or water for these community animals.”

“We are running out of batara, rusk, biscuits, bread. We are in dire need of help. Pls, donate rice, bread, milk, biscuits, dog, cat dry feed. The drop point is our shelter at Shaktinagar. If supplies need to be collected please send us a message. We will facilitate the same Important Appeal: please keep out food, water near your homes for community animals and birds,” the post read.
