Covid-19: Most positive cases from Ullal, says DC

Mangaluru: Amid rising cases of coronavirus in Dakshina Kannada, district deputy commissioner Sindhu Rupesh on Saturday briefed about the district administration’s preparedness to deal with the health crisis.
“As many as 2282 hospital beds have been kept ready for patients. If needed, the capacity of hospital beds reserved for treating Covid patients can be raised to 13,000. Private hospitals have been directed to reserve 50 percent of its beds for Covid patients. Wenlock hospital has 34 ventilators,” the DC told reporters here.
She further added that around 22 Covid-19 patients are admitted in the ICU.
Speaking about the arrivals in Dakshina Kannada, Rupesh said that since easing of restrictions 35 flights with a total 5,632 passengers have arrived in the city. Around 7,532 persons have arrived from other states. As many as 3,531 persons are under home quarantine.
A case has been registered against 40 persons for breaking the home quarantine norms and were sent to institutional quarantine.
Further she mentioned that 70 containment zones are there in district. Most of the positive cases as many as 174 are from Ullal. ASHA workers have visited 7,20,157 houses for survey
