New Delhi: With as many as 9 lakh people, across the globe, infected with Covid 19, Tablighi Jamaat Markaz chief, Maulana Saad has reportedly said that this health crisis has undoubetdly arisen due to sins of human beings.

The now absconding Islamic preacher has been booked by the Delhi police for organising a religious congregation in violation of the government orders.

In a video clip which first emerged on Wednesday, Saad says, “People must not stop offering prayers or meeting people because doctors are advising to maintain social distance. This is the time when mosques should be populated. If Allah has given us this disease, no doctor or medicine can cure us. If you think you will die if you assemble in a masjid, let me tell you, there is no better place to die.”

However in another video which emerged later, Saad retracted from his earlier remarks and urged people to follow the doctors advise and claimed to be in self isolation himself.

“Whatever is happening around the globe is a result of crimes by humanity. Staying at home is the only way to calm the wrath of God. It is important that we follow the advice of doctors and the guidelines issued by the administration. We must cooperate with the government, wherever our members are,” he is heard saying in the audio clip released on the Youtube channel of Markaz.

The congregation held between March 1 and 15 at the Nizamuddin Markaz was organised by the sect that Maulana Saad heads. Hundreds of those who attended gathering have been tested positive for Covid-19 across the country and 606 others have symptoms of coronavirus.
