Covid-19: Suratkal area declared containment zone, says DC

Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada witnessed the highest single day spike in coronavirus cases on May 15 with 16 persons testing positive for the infection.

With a 68-year-old woman from Suratkal showing symptoms of SARI, district deputy commissioner Sindhu Rupesh declared the area as a containment zone.

Briefing reporters the DC said that the 38 pregnant women who were among those repatriated from Dubai have tested negative.

Among the returnees 15 persons, including three members of a same family tested positive for coronavirus. Swab test results of 125 persons, who have been placed in institutional quarantine has been received today and a second test will be done on the 12th day, she added.
