Covid-19: Tips for diabetics to stay safe

While the novel coronavirus is said to affect children and elderly, let’s not forget about people with diabetes as it could equally be fatal for them.
Here a few tips for diabetics to stay safe
It is extremely important to make sure you are controlling diabetes appropriately. Frequently monitor the sugar levels at home with a glucose meter and ensure sugar is not above 180mg/dL.
Try to stay active and never be idle. Ensure you are exercising for 30 minutes per day.
Drink plenty of water. It is important to stay hydrated.
Get at least eight to 10 hours of sleep daily.
According to Dr Jothydev Kesavadev MD, diabetologist, one must get vaccinated against Pneumococcal Pneumonia and influenza as there is an international consensus which says it is a must for patients with diabetes.
Don’t be anxious or angry. It is better to relax and do things you love.
