COVID-19: Udupi records highest single-day spike with 27 new cases; 6 test positive in DK

Udupi/ Mangaluru: Udupi district on Thursday, May 21 reported the biggest single-day spike in cases with 27 new cases, meanwhile, Dakshina Kannada reported six cases.

116 new cases have been reported in the state on Thursday, taking the total number of cases in the state to 1578.

All the six who were tested positive today in Dakshina Kannada are UAE returnees.

With this, the total number of cases in Dakshina Kannada has risen to 61, including 39 active cases, 17 discharges, and five deaths.

As per Deputy Commissioner Jagadish of 27 cases have been reported in Udupi today, out of which 23 had returned from Maharashtra, three from Telangana, and one from Kerala. Sixteen of them are children.

A total of 49 cases have been confirmed in Udupi so far including 3 discharges.
