COVID-19 update: M’luru – 237, Udupi – 109 new cases on July 18

Mangaluru/Udupi: Dakshina Kannada district reported 237 new COVID-19 cases taking the district’s total tally to 3,311 on Saturday, July 18 while neighbouring Udupi district reported 109 cases in the day.
In Dakshina Kannada 109 were discharged from hospitals after recovering from the virus and 4 COVID-19 death were also reported on the same day. Of total positive cases, 1,848 cases are active while 1,387 persons are discharged.
A mismatch in cases reported in district and state health bulletin on July 17 was due to a technical problem and these cases have been included in today’s report. On July 17, 311 cases were reported in the district but state bulletin mentioned it as 39. As per today’s state bulletin, Dakshina Kannada has reported 509 positive cases.
In Udupi, the cumulative total of COVID-19 cases in the district increased to 2,088.
Those tested positive include an ASI at the Kundapura police station and a Grade D female employee at the Saccheripete Primary Health Centre in Karkala taluk.
Presently, there are 492 active COVID-19 cases in the district undergoing treatment.
