Covid-19: What will happen after recovery?

Team Udayavani, Mar 27, 2020, 4:09 PM IST

Even with the current inflated mortality rates, the vast majority of people who catch COVID-19 will make a complete recovery. But this brings new uncertainties about how quickly one will regain health and what their ongoing social responsibilities might be.

WHO says about 80% of people with Covid-19 recover without needing any specialist treatment. Only about one person in six becomes seriously ill and develops difficulty breathing.

Well, even after the recovery a few people face some problem, some who’ve been quarantined for a long time may show symptoms of anxiety and dread. They will have constant fear that they will  be judged by friends, neighbors and co-workers about their physical health.

On the other hand, researchers say that there are chances of  reinfection, but they are still unclear whether people who recover from COVID-19 will be immune to reinfection from the coronavirus and, if so, how long that immunity will last.Sources claim that, 14 per cent of people that recovered then tested positive again.

However, there might be other explanations rather than reinfection. There is the possibility of human error such as inaccurate testing or patients being discharged prematurely or also the virus remaining inactive after an initial period of sickness with minimal symptoms, before it attacks the lungs.

Hence, do not let the deadly virus affect you and your family and follow all the precautionary measures to combat Covid-19.
