Byndoor: The cow theft racket that was rampant in the taluk since quite some time has been successfully busted by the activists of Hindu outfits. They also managed to catch one of the thieves.
Cows and buffalos in and around Nayakana Katte, Kambadakone, and Jogur of the taluk, were being stolen along with their ropes during the night, since a few years. The upset villagers finally planned to catch the cow thieves with the help of activists of Hindu outfits.
Four teams of activists of Bajrang Dal and Hindu Jagarana Vedike of the taluk laid in wait for the cow theives at Nayakana Katte and Kambadakone, despite the heavy rains on Thursday night, August 2nd.
During the midnight, around 12:30 am, two persons arrived in a pickup van and were later seen leaving the place around 4 am in the morning, with three cows. The activists gave the pickup a chase and managed to rescue the three cows and also nab one of the cow thieves.
During the pursuit, the cow thieves tried to run down the activists with their pickup van three times, but undeterred by the attempt, the activists successfully pursued the cattle thieves along the national highway via Byndoor –Shiradi route and thereby caught one of the thieves.
The thief along with the rescued cows, were handed over to the Byndoor police. Police are on the lookout for the absconding cattle thief.
