Shivamogga: The common public suffered as public sector banks stayed close as the workers did not report for duty following the two-day strike across the nation by the bank associations on May 30.

In Shivamogga, the bank employees protested before the State Bank of India at B H Road on May 30 morning.

The bank strike comes after the 2 percent salary hike declared by the banks to fulfill the bank unions and the discussions amongst unions and bank administration from there on, likewise failed to make progress.

Customers of public sector banks were hindered as the dates of the strike correspond with the month end. Services such as deposit in branches, FD renewal, government treasury operation, money market operation were effected. In numerous spots, ATMs likewise ran dry and individuals were seen hurrying to private bank ATMs. Online banking have stayed unaffected up until this point.

Private banks, for example, ICICI, Axis, HDFC and Kotak Mahindra are working regularly.

In the interim, the United Forum of Banking Unions has requested an early answer for the standoff. The unions look for early wage review settlement, adequate increment in salary, change in other service conditions, wage revision settlement for all officers up to scale VII among other demands.
