Customs officials seize gold at MIA

Bajpe: Yet another attempt to smuggle gold at Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) was thwarted by the customs officials here on Saturday March 16th.
The officials apprehended a passenger who arrived from Dubai by SpiceJet flight SG60 at the airport and on screening, gold concealed within the rectum of the passenger was revealed.
The precious metal of foreign origin was in the form of power/paste. The 23.5 karat gold weighing 632 gram was seized by the officials and the market value of the seized metal is around Rs 19.46 lakh.
