Customs seize gold bars worth over Rs 68 lakh from three passengers

Bengaluru: The Customs seized gold bars worth over Rs 68 lakh and arrested three passengers in the last one week for illegally transporting Gold from Dubai to Sharjah.
On August 10, the Customs arrested Ishaq Pasha (23) and recovered 1.4 kg gold bars worth Rs 40 lakh from him. He was travelling from Dubai to Bangaluru. He was carrying cylindrical shaped gold pieces inside electrical gadgets. The hidden gadgets were found inside a packet full of chocolates.
On August 12, Syed Mahammad (40) from Kadapa, the Customs arrested and seized four gold bars and two cut pieces of gold bars all worth Rs 15.71 lakh. He travelled by Air Arabia from Sharjah and had concealed gold bars inside a mixer in check-in baggage.
On August 7, the Customs arrested Abdul Muneer (36) from Malappuram in Kerala and seized four gold biscuits worth Rs 13.73 lakh which he had concealed in rectum.
