CWG bronze medalist Gururaja Poojary accorded rousing welcome at Udupi

Udupi: On his return from Birmingham with a bronze medal, Indian weightlifter Gururaja Poojary was accorded a rousing welcome at his home district here on Sunday.
The Udupi district administration organized a felicitation program to honor Gururaja Poojary at Ajjarkad’s Mahatma Gandhi Sports District Stadium. Deputy commissioner Kurma Rao M congratulate him on his stellar performance.
Earlier, Poojary was personally received at the Mangaluru Airport by Dharmasthala Kshetra Dharmadikari and Member of Rajya Sabha Dr. Veerendra Hegde, BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel, and MLA Umanath Kotian at the Mangaluru airport.
Gururaja Poojary had made the district and the nation proud by winning the bronze medal in the men’s 61kg weghtlifting competitions of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
Speaking to reporters after the felicitation program, Poojary said that he was elated at winning a medal for India. He advised the budding talents that achieving success demands sincere efforts and consistent hard work. Train and prepare well, you will succeed one day, he added.
