Cyber fraudsters loot Rs 10.76 lakh in name of electricity bill from B’luru woman

Bengaluru: A fraudulent case has been reported from the “Silicon City”, in which, a woman has lost Rs 10.76 lakhs to cyber fraudsters.
According to the reports, on July 7, Kumaraswamy Layout resident Dr. Vani Prabhakar received a message from an anonymous number to pay the electricity bill. Upon calling the number, the alleged fraudster directed Dr. Vani to download the Team Viewer app. As per the direction she had downloaded the app and transacted Rs 100 as payment towards the electricity bill as suggested by fraudsters. In a couple of minutes, she observed Rs 10.76 lakh being transferred to some other account. When inquired with her bank, Dr. Vani was informed that she was a victim of cyber fraud.
Meanwhile, she has filed a complaint with the Cyber Crime Police, South Division.
