In response to the Orange Alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre due to Cyclone “Fengshen,” the Dakshina Kannada District Disaster Management Authority has declared a holiday for all schools and colleges in the district.
Holiday for Educational Institutions:
– All Anganwadis, government, aided, and private primary and secondary schools, as well as Pre-University Colleges (up to 12th grade), in South Kannada district will remain closed on December 3, 2024.
This decision comes in light of the heavy rainfall expected as a result of the cyclone, with authorities urging schools to ensure the safety of their buildings, especially those in poor condition, and not to conduct any activities in unsafe structures.
Other safety measures include warnings to the public to avoid rivers, drains, and electrical poles, and to report any incidents to local authorities immediately.
The district administration is closely monitoring the situation and advises residents to stay alert and take necessary precautions.
