Cyclone Tauktae: State government announces relief package

Mangaluru: As a relief measure for the residents of coastal districts, who were affected by cyclone Tauktae the State Government on Monday announced a relief package

Revenue Minister R Ashok on Monday visited the cyclone-affected areas of Dakshina Kannada and reviewed the sitauation. He also met the rescued crew members of the tug boat incident at NMPT office

Ashok said that  Rs 5 lakh compensation will be given to those victims whose houses have been completely damaged due to the cyclone and Rs 1 lakh compensation in case of partial damage

Also, he said  Rs 10 lakh would be given to the families of the persons killed in the tug boat incident and  Rs 18,000 will be given to each of the 182 families affected by the cyclone

All the nine crew members of the tug boat that got stuck among rocks off the Mulky coast here were rescued on Monday in a joint operation by the Indian Navy and Coast Guard.
