Mangaluru: Private hostels in the district have been asked to secure permits from local bodies within 15 days.
A press release from the District Urban Development Cell said that many educational institutions and businesses are operating within the city and town limits of Dakshina Kannada district. However, it has been observed that numerous new private hostels are running businesses without obtaining the necessary licenses. Additionally, some private hostels lack basic amenities and proper hygiene.
Private hostels operating without a license in the jurisdiction of urban local bodies must obtain the necessary permits from the local bodies within 15 days. Otherwise, legal action will be taken to shut down these unlicensed hostels, and heavy fines will be imposed, said the District Urban Development Cell Planning Director in the press release.
