Dakshina Kannada under threat of landslides and floods; 102 villages at high risk

Mangaluru: Heavy rains have caused landslides in several areas in neighbouring Kodagu district. As a precaution, the district administration here has listed a total of 102 villages in the district which are highly sensitive to landslides and floods.
The identified villages have been instructed to take necessary emergency measures. Accordingly, 70 gram panchayats that cover these 102 villages have formed the Disaster Management Committee under the Disaster Management Plan, stated Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat CEO, R Selvamani.
The villages identified in the list are: Harekal, Gurupura, Malluru, Adyar, Ulaibettu, Malavur, Chelyaru, Surinje, Navuru, Maninalkuru, Sarpadi, Perne, B Mooda, Panemangalore, Kadeshivalaya, Barimaru, Sajipa Munnuru, Pudu, Sajipa Moodu, Sajipa Nadu, Kariyangala, Baluje, Athikaribettu, Aikala, Kateel, Kilpadi, Haleangadi, Kemral, Mulki, Sampaje, Aranthodu, Aletti, Markanja, Harihara Pallatadka, Kollamogru, Subhramanya, Kuttrapady, Shiradi, Koukradi, Uppinangady, Hirebandadi, 34th Nekkiladi, Bellipvadi, Bajaturu, Puttur Kasba, Mittabagilu, Kadirudyavara, Malavantige, Mundaje, Layila, Koyyur, Nada, Indabettu, Navur, Charmadi, Neriya, Kalmanja, Dharmasthala, Bailalu, Bandaru, Elanthila, Nidle, Sisila, Naravi, Venuru, Aladangadi, Shirlalu and Aarambodi.
