Mangaluru: The Congress party is confident of forming a clear majority government in the state and repeating the 2013 election results in Dakshina Kannada district, according to AICC General Secretary and Rajya Sabha member K C Venugopal. He criticized the BJP government for coming to power through “horse-trading” and stated that the people will give them a befitting reply.
Addressing a press conference at the District Congress office in Mangaluru on Wednesday, Venugopal labeled the BJP government as the “most corrupt” government in the history of the state. He accused the current government, led by Basavaraj Bommai, of breaking the record of corruption and engaging in “40 percent commission” business. He added that the government has not fulfilled even 75 percent of the promises made.
Further, he evinced confidence that Congress will form a majority government in the state. “The Congress is already going to the people with 4 guarantee cards, and we are promising to form a Congress government which is corruption-free, pro-development, and has a holistic vision. A manifesto is also being prepared to form such a transparent government and it will be released soon,” he said.
