Dakshina Kannada ZP launches Cleanliness Task Force in district’s GPs

Mangaluru: With the view to curb the menace of people throwing garbage on the sides of National and State Highways and other roads in the Dakshina Kannada district, the zilla panchayat has launched the Sanitation and Cleanliness Task Force.
CEO of the zilla panchayat Dr Kumar in a circular ordered the constitution of the Task Force in every gram panchayats in the district.
The Task Force will consist of the gram panchayat’s PDO, panchayat secretary, revenue collector, ASHA workers and the beat police.
They will be assigned to patrol the jurisdiction of their gram panchayat and charge fines on those dumping garbage.
The Task Force can also register cases in police stations against offenders and also request RTO to cancel the permits of vehicles dumping garbage.
To aid the Task Force a sanitation and cleanliness advisory committee will also be constituted comprising of the panchayat president, vice-president and other GP members.
