Dalai Lama to visit Bylakuppe on Jan 5

Periyapatna: Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama will arrive at the Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in Bylakuppe on January 5 for a one-month retreat, according to TDL head Tasi Tundup.

Ahead of his visit, cleaning drives have been undertaken in key areas including the prayer hall and BM Road under the Bylakuppe Panchayat jurisdiction. The Dalai Lama will participate in regular prayers with Tibetan Buddhist monks but will not attend any public gatherings, events, or religious ceremonies, he said.

In light of the visit, security arrangements have been tightened under the instructions of senior officials, with police deployed for bandobast.
