Chamarajanagar: Chamarajanagar district political leader A.R. Krishnamurthy, who lost the 2004 Assembly polls by a solitary vote, is good to go to join the Congress during AICC president Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Mysuru on March 25.
Krishnamurthy, son of the late Dalit pioneer B. Rachaiah, has been in political hibernation from more than 14 years, in the wake of losing to R. Dhruvanarayan of the Congress in 2004. While Mr. Krishnamurthy, who challenged in the then Santemarahalli constituency from the JD(S) ticket, surveyed 40,751 votes, Dhruvanarayan surveyed 40,752 votes.
It is learnt that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is excited about enlisting Krishnamurthy, as his father had prepared him in politics. The BJP, which guaranteed to send to him to the Legislative Council, neglected to stay faithful to its promise.
