Dalit protest goes violent

Belagavi: The protest by various Dalit organisations on Wednesday, in Belagavi reproving the death of a Dalit youth in the Bhima-Koregaon dispute, suddenly turned violent.

The enraged protesters began throwing stones and broke out violence at Chennamma Circle in the city on Wednesday. The stone pelting damaged few shops and city buses.

To recall, the Bhima Koregaon dispute arouse on January 1. The Maharashtra government gave rs.10 lakh compensation to the family of Rahul Phatangade, the youth who was killed in the violence.

The police have increased the security at sensitive areas of the city following the violence break down.
